Debauchery and Magic Demo: Content, Multiplayer, and Progress

The Debauchery and Magic demo provides access to the opening zones of Haven, the first goblin dungeon, and multiplayer testing on Steam. Players can experience tavern mini-games, mount mechanics, and crafting professions, though save progress resets upon full release.

How to Access the Steam Demo and System Requirements

The demo is available directly from the Steam store page published by 3rd Shift Studios. Players can download the client onto Windows PCs without purchase. On the Steam discussion boards, developer responses state that data from demo play sessions will wipe before the scheduled launch, meaning all character builds, weapon rarities, and currency resets when the full build arrives.

The official Steam technical specifications list Windows 11 64-bit as the operating system and require 69 GB of available storage space.

Character Creation and Multiplayer Setup

When launching the build, character generation assigns the Wizard archetype. Visual customization options remain fixed to default preset models, while character name input fields allow personalized labeling. Players can launch solo instances or establish hosted servers.

Server configurations support online co op with private password protection. Hosted worlds accommodate up to 12 players per session. Communication tools include built-in proximity voice chat toggled through the V key, accompanied by an emote wheel accessed from the chat interface.

Goblin Cave Dungeon Mechanics and Traversal

The tutorial path follows instructions from the Blue Wizard after goblins steal the camp supply cache. Players track glowing markers through the woods to unlock the Goblin Cave entrance, representing the main instance in the testing build. Inside, parties tackle linear puzzle corridors and enemy packs.

Environmental obstacles in dungeons require timing precision. Players cross rotating razor arms, avoid rolling boulders, and time movements between spinning spike platforms suspended over gaps. Falling off platforms triggers ragdoll physics, dropping players into lower water areas to reset their climb. The dungeon ends with a fight against the Goblin Raider boss, dropping loot such as molten forge hammers, robes, and pipes.

Mount options drop from chests or appear as quest rewards. Players can equip animal mounts including wind, earth, ice, or rainbow horses. Alternatively, players can equip boards for skateboarding via the mount inventory slot, enabling kickflips, grinds, and double jumps across city roads and stair railings.

Pondhawk Activities and Mini-Games

Reaching the central town of Pondhawk triggers the royal announcement from King Baitron outlawing illicit pleasures. Townsfolk offer multiple questlines to circumvent these decrees. Players can deface town propaganda posters using an in-game brush tool, clear tavern basements, or deliver bribes.

Town life features multiple recreational professions and activities:

  • Tavern Mini-Games: Players engage in beer pong, ping pong, pool tables, slot machines, roulette, and five-seat blackjack inside town establishments.
  • Resource Gathering: Players practice timing clicks during fishing at open lakes, harvest Mary Spindle herbs, and quarry grave iron nodes.
  • Alchemical Concoctions: The tavern upstairs stations enable brewing using gathered monster drops, turning goblin feet and bones into stat-altering consumables that restore mana while adding visual motion blur.
